Free Mind, The Studio
Free Mind, The Studio is a performance/movement studio all about bringing the joy of the arts back into adult life through a supportive and creative community. Through our dance collective, a cappella group, daily dance and fitness classes, intensives, visuals, events and performances, we invite any and everyone who wants to find that joy again. We are primarily a beginner dance studio, but all levels are welcomed into our space! It is a safe space to avoid the pressure of a typical NYC dance class, and enjoy the feeling of movement when it is just for yourself.
Whether you’re looking to build a new skill or a new hobby, or you’re picking up dance after a hiatus, or you had a weird relationship with dance and want to rewrite that story, or maybe you’re even a professional dancer who just wants to dance to dance… we got you!
We’ve truly got something for everyone at Free Mind. Our focus is on community — NYC can be extremely lonely, despite the millions of people. Our hope is that you walk through our doors and immediately feel welcomed, supported, and safe to let loose and be yourself.
Behind The Studio
Callie Beattie
Founder/CEO
Hi everyone! I’m Callie. I grew up in the arts since I was young girl, fueled by a passion for theatre and singing and being a drama queen (in the best way, of course!). This passion attracted me to the Big Apple, where I moved in 2016 to pursue a degree in Arts and Entertainment Management at Pace University. In my time there, a few friends and I founded our college’s award-winning a Cappella group, FREQUENCY, who I hold so very near and dear to my heart. I also had the privilege of performing in an off-broadway show for a little while, which was chaotic, but amazing.
My time in NYC has been spent going to as many live events and surrounding myself with as much creative energy as possible. I love the feeling of a room full of creatives working towards the same goal, with the same passion in their hearts. I want to create that space for people and allow everyone the opportunity to be who they want to be and pursue what they want to pursue. So, I decided to open up my own space.
Let this space be the place you come to when you want to fuel your passions, work on your art, enhance your skillset, or just simply to let go and free your mind. I thank you for being the person you are and allowing me to pursue my passions and be in your presence as you pursue yours.
Make a donation to the studio
Free Mind, the Studio was born from the dream of a twenty-something year old young woman who envisioned a safe space for people to express themselves through art. Thanks to your support, this dream has become a reality not just for her, but for her team of instructors as well. Your donations help us maintain and enhance our studio, allowing us to continue providing a welcoming and creative environment for all. Every contribution, big or small, means the world to us and helps us keep this dream alive. Thank you for being part of our community.
